Charity is a noble act. But many people are not able to do it even though they have the resources to do so. That's because of the means to do so. Some countries even give Tax waiver on amounts donated to Charitable Gift Funds. This has also been a chief motivator for gifting funds to charity. Amounts ranging from as low as $1 to as high as $1 million or sometimes even higher are given to such Charitable Gift Funds. $1 given in charity doesn't really make a big difference by itself. But when in a Charitable Gift Fund many such $1 is put together it gains the strength of $1 million. Now each dollar given in charity is able to make a big contribution towards the cause. Also since the people involved are better experienced at working for the cause the money is utilized in an optimized way. They have the knowledge and power to know what is the needs for a particular cause, where to put money in and most importantly how to avoid the dupes. It's important to realize that there are many people ad organizations and foundations that cheat people into donating for a cause but really do nothing with the amount for the actual cause. The Charitable Gift Funds have the resources to do proper background checks before investing the money in such organizations and foundations.
